Silly Girl

It is Alexa's first official day of Summer break.  I can't believe she is going to be in 3rd grade next year.  Holy crap.  Where the heck has time gone?  It seems that yesterday she was just a tiny baby learning how to walk and talk, and now here she is an 8 year old that I can't seem to keep quiet. :)

I must admit that I have always been a little bit crazy about what Alexa wears each day.  She is 8 years old and I am still picking out her clothes to wear every morning.  However, I have decided that she is getting old enough that I am going to start to teach her to be a little more independent.....starting with her picking out her own clothes each day.  Today, I left her outfit entirely up to her.  She was able to get up and get dressed and fix her hair all on her own. When I saw what she chose to wear, I about died.  She is so stinking funny.  She has such a funny little personality.  I can't decide is she was going for a diva or gangsta look.  What a silly little girl.

Well, it wasn't what I would have picked out for her to wear, but it sure is fun to see her little personality shine through in this simple decision she made.  I can't wait to see what other outfits she choses to wear in the near future.

Family Cuddles

Last night we moved the mattress into the living room for a family cuddle and movie night. One of the great things about living in a zoo is that there is NEVER a shortage of people or animals to cuddle with.  :)

I know that everyone (Especially Jenny) loves reading about what I was thankful for in November of 2007 over...and over...and over again, but I think it is time that I move on from that post and get crazy.

Since it has been so long since I have updated everyone, I am going to do a top 10 list of things that we have been up to this last year.

1. We finally broke down and put ourselves into years of debt with a house. Yes, it's true. We bought a house. It has been so much fun. Although, we have recently gained a new respect for landlords and their ability to get plumbing problems fixed. :)

2. Alexa started Kindergarten. I can't believe she is getting this big. Her teacher's name is Mrs. Valenzuela. Alexa is getting smarter by the day, and will be reading in no time. VERY SCARY!!

3. We temporarily lost our sanity and purchased two dog. Brigg was our fist little buddy. He is a German Sheppard/Min Pin mix. And our Second dog Bacchus who we added to the family about a month after Brigg is a Chocolate lab/Mastiff mix. They are sweet, but sometimes I feel like we live in a zoo.

4. Walter decided it was time to try and end his life with a block saw. :) He was at work when the saw he was using jumped on him. He accidentally Slit his arm and had to get it stitched up. It was pretty gruesome, and I am lucky to still have him. He has been working hard at physical therapy and should have most of his range of motion back in no time.

5. Alexa lost her first tooth. It was loose for quite a while, and she WOULD NOT let anyone touch it. One day we were talking about the tooth fairy coming. She said " I think she is going to bring me a doll house or a bike" When I said that usually the tooth fairy brings money she said "I am pretty sure she knows that I don't want that."

6. We bought our project jeep. It is a 1974 Mail jeep that needs a lot of work. We have had a dream for quite a while to work on a jeep together and completely re-build it. It is probably not going to be done for 10 years, but we have it none the less. :)

7. Walter and I had our TWO YEAR anniversary. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but if you were married to Walter, you would know!!! hahaha just kidding. But I really can't believe that it has already been two years. Next week we will be having our 50th anniversary. Time goes by too fast.

8. We hit a record this year. Least amount of time spend down south with family. It has been really hard to get down south this year. I think I have been home a total of 3 times this entire year. It has been really hard for us, but hopefully we will be able to make it up in 2009 :)

9. This Christmas Alexa had her first holiday program for school. She was so nervous that she pretended to pee her pants minutes before she was supposed to go on stage. I had to take her into the bathroom and talk her into going out there. It was very sweet. Once she got on stage she felt much better. She did very well and I could tell she was proud of herself when she was done.

10. Last but not least, This last year, I managed to update my blog....not even once......I think that is some kind of a record, maybe I should get a prise for this!!! And Kudos to Jen for not letting me live it down that I had not updated since November of 2007 :)

I love you all and can't wait to blog with you this year :)))

Happy Thanksgiving

Since it is thanksgiving, and we are supposed to be thinking about what we are thankful for, I thought I would post a list of the things in my life that I am most thankful for.

1. My cute little family.
2. My support system. who knows where I would be if I didn't have the people in my life that I do.
3. Mine and my family's health
4. The small pleasures in life like chocolate, movies, games, etc.
5. Lazy weekends hanging out with the family.
6. My awesome husband who is cleaning the house while I lay on my bum to wright this post.
7. Alexa's laugh. There is no better sound in the world
8. My mom and dad, they are amazing.
9. My in-laws. Who would have thought that another family would ever be willing to take a crazy girl like me in.
10. My sisters, they are great role models.
11.Everything in my life. I love my life. I could not have asked for a better one.

Thanksgiving is such a great Holiday. It is so easy to get frustrated and angry with life sometimes. It is good to have an excuse to look at the things that you have and are thankful for.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I'll miss you Alexa Rae!!!

Well everyone, today is my last day as a stay at home mom. Monday I officially start work and Alexa starts going to pre-school. I am having a really hard time closing this door to my life. I have loved staying home and being with Alexa so much. I am going to miss it a lot more than I realized at first. I have found myself getting quite emotional today when I really think about all the times I am going to miss. I have spent almost every minute of the last two years with my beautiful girl, and I don't know if I will even know how to spend a day without her right by my side asking questions about everything and driving me crazy.

I would like to end this with a little tribute to my baby girl by listing my favorite things about her. these are the things I am going to miss the most during the days when I am not with her.

1. Waking up to her whispering my name and tapping me on the shoulder.(so annoying, but I love it so much :)
2. Watching kid shows and cuddling every morning.
3. That beautiful smile!
4. Her many questions about everything she sees. It is so awesome to watch her look at the world and wonder.
5. Reading the Ice Cream felt board story. She loves it because when we finish we always see who can "eat" the most ice cream. She always wins!
6. Her uncontrollable gut roll laugh. I haven't realized it until now, but I live for that laugh every day.
7. As much as it drives me crazy, I am going to miss her changing every five minutes into a different princess dress. I love the way she walks up the stairs every time and says "how do I look? aren't I pretty?" I just hope she realizes how very right she is when she says that.
8. Her annoying sense of humor. She thinks she is so funny. If I say "clean up your room please." she will say "your face is my room" I am pretty sure that she is the only one who finds this funny, but that is what makes it so dang cute.
9. She has such a sweet spirit. She can't even find Americas Funniest Home Video's funny because she feels so bad for the people that get hurt. I love that about her.
10. I think right now, the thing I love about her the most, is that when we told her that we were going to look at places for her to go play during the day while I went to work, she got a really sad look on her face and said "I am going to miss you"

If only she knew how much I was going to miss her. I love you Lex! Your an amazing girl and I have been so lucky to be able to spend so much time with you that last couple of years.

*Dreams*

Alexa has been talking about what she wants to be when she grows up lately. The other day we were talking about it and she said "When I grow up, I am going to be a Teacher, an Astronaut, a Basketball Player, a Doctor and a Firefighter." It is heart warming to see my little girl embracing this whole world that she has at her fingertips. It makes me feel a little stupid that I am 22 years old and I can't find anything I really want to do "when I grow up" and my little four year old already has such an amazing list of dreams that she can't chose just one. One of my favorite things about being a parent, is watching Alexa look at the world and ask questions. she really does have the whole world right at her finger tips.

I never knew that I would learn so much from my daughter. I am pretty sure that I have learned more from her, than she has learned from me throughout the years. It is so inspiring to see the way she embraces the world. Hopefully she never loses these ambitions and dreams like I seem to have done.

Fun with the cousins

Living in Salt Lake is sometimes frustrating because we are so far away from most of our family. However, it makes it so much more fun when we do have the chance to see family. Alexa and I were lucky enough to be able to spend the day with Kim and her kids today. It was a lot of fun. It is nice to have some friends for Alexa to play with every once in a while. And I love any chance I get to hang out with my sisters. As the youngest girl in the family, I feel like I don't have as close of a relationship with my sisters as I should. I love when I get the chance to hang out and help build that relationship.

We met at the Gateway Mall and Kim took us to see the movie Surfs Up. it was a very cute movie. We spent most of the time at the water fountains, where the kids had a blast running through the water. It was such a fun day for us. It is days like this, that make me realize how much I miss our family's.

I took this picture the other day, and I just had to share it. What a lazy little family we have.

Kids....can't live with 'em....can't live without 'em

Ya know when you don't know how bad you need someone or something in your life until it is gone?! well, I am experiencing that right now. Alexa has gone to Monticello for a couple of days, and we miss her so bad. things are just not the same here without her. At first we thought it was going to be a nice little vacation, but things are just too quiet and lonely without our little girl. She comes home tomorrow, and I can not wait to see her, and get back into our crazy, and loud lifestyle again.

Happy Mother's Day

I just wanted to say Happy Mothers Day to everyone! I hope all of you mothers have an amazing day! I especially want to tell my mom and mother-in-law how much I love and appreciate them. You guys are amazing. I have the best moms in the world :)

Mom, your my best friend. I wish I would have realized what an amazing woman you were earlier, and built a relationship sooner, but I am so excited to have such a good relationship with you now.

Jody, you are an amazing person! I can't wait to get to know you better and build a good relationship with you throughout the years.

I love you both! Happy Mothers Day!

Fairy the Fat Hairy Dingle Berry

We have added a new addition to our family. Her name is Fairy the Fat Hairy Dingle Berry, or Fairy for short. We rescued her from the Humane Society, she is two years old and such a good cat. She has the most amazing eyes. one is blue and the other is a Hazel/green color, and she is pure white. She is VERY cuddly and also pretty playful. Almost immediately when we brought her home, she started purring, and has not stopped since, and she doesn't have a tiny purr, it is the loudest purr I have ever heard! :) The previous owner named her fairy but she is really hairy and she is the fattest cat we have ever seen she also had dingle berries when we got her, so the name Fairy the Fat Hairy Dingle Berry seemed fitting.

Oh, The Joys Of Being A Kid

One of Alexa's Favorite things to do is swing at the park. She would swing until she was sick if I was willing to push her that long. When I see her swing, it reminds me of being a kid again. How nice it would be to be so easily entertained again.

Yay for Spring!

My favorite season is finally here. Spring is such a fun season. The weather, the smells, the birds, I just love everything about it. Alexa, Walter, and I have been spending a lot of time enjoying the nice weather. Doing things like playing catch, swimming, going to the park etc.

Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Winston came up to Salt Lake with Grandma Zentner and Aunt Mary on Easter weekend. We all went to the Red Butte Garden, it felt so good to get out and enjoy the beautiful flowers and plants. Alexa really enjoyed smelling the "pretty flowers" whenever she got the chance. We also set up Alexa's pool for the first time this season. she had a blast playing in it and I can't wait until be have the opportunity to set it up again. Unfortunately, Walter and I have not been able to set up the "white trash hot-tub" yet, but hopefully soon. for those of you who don't know just how cool we are, the white trash hot-tub it Alexa's pool blown up but we connect the hose to the washer and fill the pool up with hot water. it is really fun. I am pretty sure our neighbors think we are crazy, but no, they are wrong, we are cool!

Anywhoo, I am really looking forward to the fun things we are going to do this Spring and Summer. I am going to make it a goal to do things this year like hiking, camping, fishing, maybe even tubing down Provo river etc. Last weekend, Walter, Alexa, and I decided to go for a drive on the upper East end of the valley to look at the big houses, and we ended up venturing through a canyon that neither of us have been to. It had lots of different hiking trails and camping sites and picnic areas. we drove through the canyon for a ways and looked at a couple of hiking trails, I hope we can maybe check a few of them out this year. Both Walter and I have been itching to start up some hiking with our dad's and since we don't have the convenience of them being close, we are going to have to go at it alone.

Well, I hope that everyone is enjoying their Spring weather as much as we are. Love ya lots and hope we see ya'll soon.

It's time for a prayer.

The wife and I were sitting on the couch next to alexa. I was buried in the computer and Lindsay was reading a book when Alexa got our attention and informed us that she wanted to say a prayer. It seemed a random request but we took to the time to listen to her. It went something like this. "Jesus, in the house of God, sanks for the wonderful marriage and that I can be a mom. Amen." Quite an inspired prayer. I am as thankful for my wonderful marriage as Alexa is.

A mom's got to brag!

Okay, so I know that I brag about how cute Alexa is ALL THE TIME, but I just cant help it! She is always saying and doing the cutest dang things. How could a mother not want to brag about something that cute?! :) Well, last night she said the worlds cutest thing and I just have to share it. so here goes.....
I ALWAYS say bless you when Alexa sneezes, and I guess last night she sneezed and I didn't hear her so obviously I didn't say bless you. Well, she got this sort of mad/frustrated look on her face, turned to me and said "MOM, I BLESSED!"
It was so cute I thought I was going to cry. Maybe it's just because I am her mom, but wow, I thought it was sweet!

Happy Birthday Alexa!!!

My baby is turning 4 years old tomorrow! I cant believe that she is already that old. it couldn't have been that long since I first saw my beautiful little girl. I never thought I would have a 4 year old. When she was a baby, every one kept telling me to enjoy it while it lasts because they grow up fast, and I still never really believed that it would happen this fast. time has flown by and somewhere along the way I lost my little baby to a gorgeous four year old girl.
We celebrated Alexa's birthday on Saturday at the park. it was such a fun party. Alexa dressed up like a princess. We curled her hair and put makeup on her. She looked SO gorgeouse. She was very proud of herself and was even shaking her bum when she walked. She is the biggest girly girl I have ever met! she loves anything as long as it is pink and glittery!
Alexa is an amazing girl. She has been my little angel since the second she was born and will continue to be my angel forever. These first four years were so much fun and I cant wait to see her grow in the next four years (although, I hope time does slow down a little bit more these next few years so I can have my little girl a while longer!)
ALEXA, WE LOVE YOU!!!!
